This is very true for us. After all the love we had experienced it was heavy to come to the close of camp. Even with the heaviness we had a blast. The party rocked.
The children did a run through their presentations during the morning, and we decorated the room with their work and balloons. The parents then joined us, and the children out-did themselves during the presentation with their acts. The children even shared their files with their parents.
What is a party without cake?! Not a party at all! We shared cake and sweets with the parents and the children. The parents, God bless them, came in numbers. It was touching to have them say that they had noticed how very intent the children were in drawing their thoughts and explaining them. Impact is what we pray for and strive to deliver always and we were happy we touched them.
The greatest take away from the camp was the realization that children are our future, and the best we can do for them is to be there for them. Not with money, or gadgets, or bribes, but with our time and our interest in their lives.
DCI Kibera Kidogo Camp 2018 was a success and we thank God.
